If we see society as built up of humans rather than females and males - we are usually attracted to our preference; if we have one. Though this line can sometimes be blurred, cue the infamous ‘girl crush’ that is becoming ever more apparent (especially since the raise in acceptance of bisexuality). Yet if this line can be blurred and one can respect the attraction of, and perhaps even be sexually excited by, someone across from the gender they’re usually inclined towards, then can’t it be accepted that we are all merely attracted to beauty.
We all compose ourselves. We create ourselves in a way that we want to be interpreted. Therefore, we are our own artists and our own masterpieces. Taking this into consideration, we are all admirers of beauty because it is a construction we want to build for ourselves. It is a piece of art that we wish we had created. Sexuality is ultimately your innate admiration for the living art around you, sometimes we cannot tear ourselves away from an exquisite painting yet we don’t always understand other paintings that don’t comply with our understanding of artistic expression.
To disregard (and stick two fingers up at) the ideological binaries, and heterosexual/homosexual/bisexual expectations, I admire art and beauty is what I love.
